Portugal asserts itself as a tourist destination winning 15 awards at the World Travel Awards.
Braga, Madeira, Azores, Porto, and Lisbon were some of the Portuguese destinations that shined in the World Travel Awards.
Portugal stands out as one of the world's top tourist destinations.
Portugal continues to establish itself as one of the world's main tourist destinations, with 15 awards won at the 31st World Travel Awards ceremony, held this year in Funchal, Madeira.
In these awards, known as the "Oscars of tourism", the best experiences, destinations, and services in the sector are highlighted annually on a global level.
Madeira, the host of the event, was crowned for the 10th consecutive year as the Best Island Destination in the World, reaffirming its position as a reference in tourism. In turn, the Azores were recognized as the Best Adventure Tourism Destination, reflecting the natural wealth and unique activities offered by the islands.
In addition, these were other cities and regions highlighted with awards:
- Porto: Elected Best Metropolitan Seaside Destination, Porto reinforces its appeal as a vibrant city by the Atlantic.
- Braga: Distinguished as Best Emerging Destination for the 2nd consecutive year, highlighting the growth and dynamism of this historic city;
- Lisbon: won the titles of Best Urban Getaway Destination and Best Heritage City, confirming its popularity as a cultural and cosmopolitan location;
- Algarve: For the 3rd year in a row, it was elected the Best Beach Destination in the World, highlighting its stunning beaches and excellent infrastructure.
- Paiva Walkways: Awarded as the Best Adventure Tourism Attraction, recognizing the natural beauty and innovative structure of the Arouca region.
Afterwards, the following attractions in Portugal were also highlighted:
- Dark Sky Alqueva: Named Best Responsible Tourism Project, due to its contribution to sustainable tourism
- Sintra Parks - Monte da Lua: Voted the Best Conservation Company in the World, reinforcing the commitment to historical and environmental preservation.
Regarding excellent accommodations, these were the places that deserved distinctions:
- Savoy Palace (Madeira): Received three distinctions, including Best Luxury Hotel. The Reserve, part of the unit, was chosen as Best Luxury Boutique Hotel, and Saccharum stood out as Best Retreat Hotel.
- Olissipo Lapa Palace (Lisbon): Awarded as Best Classic Hotel;
- Bairro Alto Hotel (Lisbon): Recognized as the Best Historic Reference Hotel.
- Golden Dunes Beach Club (Algarve): Voted the Best Golf Resort and Villas.
Also TAP Air Portugal reinforced its leadership in air connections to Africa and South America, and Amazing Evolution was once again awarded for its excellence in managing boutique hotels.
