Traveling and want to save on mobile data? Check out these tips
According to DataReportal, 95.4% of Internet users in Portugal use their mobile phones to connect. However, the country is one of the most expensive in the European Union when it comes to mobile network, which can make it difficult for users to always keep their data connected.
With summer and vacations, how can we then save mobile data when travelling abroad? If going abroad is a challenge, check out these tips on how to save data, recommended by Selectra, a tariff comparison company, on Notícias ao Minuto:
- "Use Wi-Fi network whenever possible"
- "Disable automatic updates, synchronizations, and downloads, as they can be the biggest source of your expenses."
- "Install the lighter versions of the applications and save about 70% of the data you consume";
- "Use the data saver mode and save between 10% to 30% with this feature";
- "Do not leave mobile data on when not in use to save around 2 megabytes (MB) per day."
- "Choose to send text messages and save up to about 3MB for every 10 minutes of messaging via mobile data".
The company also warned about what consumes more data: streaming applications. Netflix and Amazon Prime can spend up to 3 gigabytes (GB) per hour in HD quality and Spotify up to 700 MB in high quality. As for social networks, Instagram can consume about 100 MB for 10 minutes of browsing, while Facebook and TikTok only 50 MB in the same period.
