What tolls are we going to stop paying?
Know that tolls we will no longer have to pay starting on January 1, 2025.
New proposal foresees the end of some tolls starting in 2025.
With the new proposal approved in Parliament, some tolls will cease to exist. The proposal was approved in general the PS bill project, which aims to eliminate tolls on former SCUTs with votes in favor from Socialists, Chega, BE, PCP, Livre, and PAN.
Depending on the places you visit and how often, you may be able to save a significant amount of money.
So, we will see in which stretches the tolls currently charged will end:
- A4 - Transmontana and Marão Tunnel,
- A13 and A13-1 - Interior Pine,
- A22 - Algarve,
- A23 - Beira Interior,
- A24 - Northern Interior.
- A25 - Coastal and Upper Beiras and
- A28 - Minho in the sections between Esposende and Antas and between Neiva and Darque.
Note that the proposal in question aims to eliminate toll fees on sections and subsections of interior highways (former SCUT) or where there are no alternative routes that allow for use in quality and safety, so now the projects will move on to the specialty process.
The measure with a budgetary impact of 157 million euros will enter into force on January 1, 2025, according to the PS bill.
