Are you entitled to the Christmas allowance? Find out when you will receive and how much.
Height has arrived: with the Christmas season, the Christmas bonus also comes for those who are entitled to this support. But when will you receive it in your bank account? Many receive the 14th month with the November salary, others do not have a fixed rule.
The only rule established by the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) is that the Christmas bonus payment must occur by December 15th.
"The worker is entitled to a Christmas bonus of an amount equal to one month's pay, which must be paid by December 15 of each year," as quoted in Notícias ao Minuto, which cites the ACT."
Regarding the amount of the Christmas bonus, it is also read that it is "proportional to the time of service provided" in the civil year, in the following situations:
- In the year of worker's admission;
- In the year of termination of the employment contract.
- In case of suspension of the employment contract, unless it is due to an employer-related fact.
So, the specific amount will be "equal to one month's salary". "The law establishes a rule of proportionality for the calculation of the Christmas subsidy, in the year of the worker's admission, in the year of termination of the contract and in the years in which the contract has been suspended for reasons related to the worker," the news website also cites.
