Complaints during vacations? Portuguese people with payment-related complaints.
The Portal da Queixa has noted, so far, the most complained issues by Portuguese people during this summer vacation. Most of them are related to problems with accommodation payments.
Vacations: Portuguese complain about issues like improper billing.
The Complaints Portal explains that from June to August, there were over a thousand complaints related to vacations from Portuguese people. This represents a 12% increase compared to the same period last year.
Having most Portuguese already gone on vacation, it was noted that they were not exactly rested. The data was disclosed by Notícias ao Minuto, and indicate that 1,444 complaints related to holidays were made in the category of "Hotels, Travel and Tourism", between June 1st and August 18th.
"There was a 12% increase in the number of complaints compared to the same period, which recorded 1,290 occurrences," reads the statement from experts in the news.
Among the complaints, the main reasons presented by consumers are "problems associated with incorrect billing, totaling 28.7% of the complaints received", and "debit of unauthorized or unrecognized amounts by consumers".
The difficulty with refunds follows, a topic that represents 18.3% of occurrences and motivates 7.2% of complaints. Regarding these vacations, the quality of service or accommodation is at stake, referring to cases where services differ from what was described at the time of service hiring," one can also read.
It is still noted that 7% of complaints are related to the cancellation or change of reservation theme, due to customer support: "Consumers report difficulty in obtaining assistance from the entity to solve problems or doubts," it reads.
The car rental service also received 212 complaints, with a 17.8% increase in complaints compared to 2023.
In addition, there were 387 complaints reporting online scams, for reasons such as missing refunds (63.6%), unauthorized or unknown transactions (19.7%), phishing (8.5%), false advertising (4.2%) and subscription to services (2.7%).
