What does the new law say about electric scooters?

A new law imposing mandatory civil liability insurance for certain motorized personal mobility vehicles came into effect on June 20, 2025. The aim is to protect users and third parties in case of accidents.

Which vehicles need compulsory insurance?

The law applies to electric scooters and other similar vehicles that meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • They reach speeds over 25 km/h.
  • Weigh more than 25 kg and reach speeds over 14 km/h.

  • Fast electric scooters;
  • Electric scooters.
  • Segways with powerful motor;
  • Hoverboards with high speed.
