According to Eurostat's estimate, released by Notícias ao Minuto, the year-on-year inflation rate increased by 0.2 percentage points in May, from 2.4% in April to 2.6% in May, in the eurozone.
In addition, the annual rate of core inflation - excluding energy and unprocessed food - rose by 0.2 percentage points to 2.8% in May.
“In May, the services component had the highest price increase (4.1%, compared to 3.7% in April), followed by food, alcohol, and tobacco (2.6%, 0.2 percentage points lower than in April), non-energy industrial goods (0.8%, compared to 0.9% in April), and with the energy component reversing the negative change with an inflation of 0.3%,” the news explains.
