Study reveals data on the current financial well-being of the Portuguese.

According to the study "Financial Well-being in Portugal: A Behavioral Perspective" developed by Portuguese institutions and disclosed by Notícias ao Minuto, half of the Portuguese feel anxiety when thinking about their personal finances.

In addition, it revealed that 22% of respondents in the study feel that money worries have prevented them from achieving as much professional success as they could have.

The same also indicated that 18% of participants choose not to think about the current state of their personal finances, while 23% feel guilty when thinking about the subject.

It could also be concluded that women feel more anxiety (44.7%) about their financial health, compared to men (39.9%).  

Respondents who receive lower incomes have been shown to be those who feel more financial anxiety compared to those with higher incomes. "For example, 48.4% of respondents earning up to 8,287 euros admitted to feeling financial anxiety, while this rate drops to 35.7% in the group of respondents earning more than 17,092 euros," as reported by Notícias ao Minuto.

It is worth noting that participants in the study with a Higher Education degree showed lower levels of financial anxiety (39.5%) than those who only completed Secondary Education (44.5%).  

It was also possible to perceive that young people between 18 and 34 years old feel greater anxiety about their finances (44%), followed by the age group between 35 and 59 years old (42.6%), and then people aged 60 or older (40.8%).  

The study also analyzed the effects of financial anxiety on people's well-being, finding that "about three out of four respondents (76%) with higher financial well-being admitted to experiencing positive emotions the day before the survey. In the case of participants with lower financial well-being, only 37% admitted to having the same experience," it further reads.

Counterpoint, 92% of people with high levels of financial well-being point out feeling happiness, while only 58% of people with lower financial well-being confessed to feeling the same.
